“Meta” is a prefix originating in ancient Greek meaning “beyond”, implying transformation and/or constant change of state.

Caterina Mongillo - better known as METAGIRL - is an Italian designer, artist and creative. Through her label, she takes footwear icons and remoulds them into pieces charged with radical femininity, where function makes way for fantasy.

Since launching METAGIRL in 2023, she has forged a unique identity through her hyper-feminine aesthetic and intricate multi-dimensional designs, recontextualising classic motifs and materials - such as pearls, lace, and Y2K touches - through a contemporary cultural lens. From one-of-one customizations, to curated workshops and branded collaborations, every METAGIRL product and experience is crafted consciously to channel freedom and creative expression; unafraid of aesthetic excess, or of the contradictions between strength and softness.
